Do children and young people to train?

A relevant question that is becoming more and more relevant in a world where the western lifestyle have changed dramatically in recent years. The answer is that children do not need to train, but it requires that they live a physically active life, which unfortunately is not always the case.

Children (age 5-15)

Play and physical activity is natural for children, but it looks like we adults do not have guessed this. Some of the reason for passive child is such that we has become too over-protective with respect. hazards and risks. In addition, we parents have become much more physically relax the last few years. Everyday hazards and risks are sure is a difficult dilemma for the many dangers children are exposed to today. The challenge is that this is used as an alibi that they can not go to such schools anymore, they are also driven by their parents.

Look at the traffic and cars, it was a bit easier on the 50's and 60's with few cars on the roads. Growing conditions in children today is not always good, with few or no play / recreation areas in dense residential area. If one then has a playground, it has become quite difficult to get them approved, for that very reason. safety. This has meant that children today may seem to be over-protected and not given the opportunity to learn to cope with a natural level of risk, which in turn makes them even more physically passive.

Our most important advice is to encourage children to free play on the children's own terms.

But then there are so many activities for kids?

The dilemma with many activities is that from the outset specialized services for a sport or sports. Our recommendation for an absolute will send their children to exercise - so it should be of type alltrening where they engaged in different activities with a lot of running fun.

We believe it is best if the kids themselves can activate them. Generally run most activities on an ideal basis through example. a sports team. Very often the training is run by one of the parents themselves, and most of us have no jurisdiction to do so. Kids are very sensitive to the feeling of mastering what they are doing. One should not make big mistake before you might have more or less destroyed the pleasure to enjoy a sport.

Here comes the tricky in, namely that they also perform in sports. This is fair enough, but the question is when kids are mature enough to be told they are not good enough for example. football team. The kids need physical activity, and competition between them they have enough of all the time. We think the extra performance orientation we adults organize is unfortunate, simply because kids are so different and many are not ready to be put on another "reserve bench" at a young age.

Very often children have special offers in sports tend too early to turn from being activity-oriented to be for performance-oriented.

Organised training is difficult to obtain effective for children, there are a lot of waiting, queuing, and perhaps anxiety. During a training of 1 hour, you have maybe only had 10-15 minutes with a pulse of resting heart rate. There is generally little out of it. We have also observed that children often are sent on training, but it seems uncertain whether it is for the parents or the kids want. We adults can activate our children themselves, and it is realistic that we certainly can do this on weekends.

Kids do not climb so much in the trees longer, they could fall down and shut up?

The good old ride in the woods, be it on foot, on skis or bike is a great for children.

Kristiansen family trying to practice this. We would like to point out that we are not such a grand family where the kids come and beg and pray when we can go out on tour Sunday morning. This is not how kids are, at least not ours. There is a track and a "war" without equal each time to get off. There is always at least one that turns difficult, one who does not want, someone who can not find the right clothes, etc.

We believe it is in human nature is to always choose the easy solutions, for adults as for kids. We are afraid if the parents do not take this little "war" with the kids, so it quickly becomes either TV, data, and sweets and all the short and easy. So whether it is a comfort, so we hope our situation is normal, that many recognize themselves, but we encourage everyone to take this fight.

Outdoor activities and weekend trips must in fact be taught like other things, and if not we parents are able to teach our children this, we are afraid no one else will do it. As a rule, it is straightforward when we finally after much ado have gotten away. We usually then always adding rewards in the form of visits to such. a living countryside with a serving of hot chocolate and school bowl, and we often have with drinks and chocolate.

Upon his return, we always have a standard ritual with hot tub and fireplace. So after a 2-3 hour trip is always jolly hockey sticks, and found out that it all actually worthwhile.

The main råmodellene and role models for their children are and will be our parents. The generation parents between 30 and 50 years later may have ourselves to habits that are worth thinking about. We think as such. the habits or unusual use of a car. We can not expect your children understand that it is possible to use the legs, as we adults do not understand it.

Parents often give good support to the kids when the kids are small, so the parents will probably be more and more invisible the older kids are. However, there is always a small minority parents who do not know what "good" to do for the kids, in other words, the parents who are too visible. These parents are living their way into the performance role on behalf of the kids that they can quickly become a major burden on their kids. Quite a few kids that are broken due. overly ambitious parents.

It is difficult today to combine the practical with something useful, while to understand that there may be much better than any training. (As normal, active child's play, biking to the store, snow shoveling, etc.) Today, it should be cool, exclusive (preferably English importord not know what does) and it will cost a lot of time, the more it costs the better. It is certainly challenging to be parents of children today!

Young people (age 16-20)

A handful of promising orienteers. Several of them have persevered and today is both the world champions and Norway master.

Our recommendation for children is based not only on our own experience. Most children have contact with organized sports through the local sports club. The challenge is that at the age of confirmation, when the age is 15 years, yes, as has already most of the children opted out of the physical sports activity.

This is very dramatic, and you have to ask what on earth is what has happened? Now is definitely the time for young people seriously going into organized sports, and most decide to quit. Research work done in this area concludes, among other things that early specialization and competitive pressures at a young age is part of the explanation.

Perhaps sport does itself a disservice to recruit the young to acquire short-term income, only to lose both practitioners and later income too early.

Adolescence is the age you really start to get ready for organized physical activity. There are still a dilemma of balancing the physical activity for young people, and the challenge remains between being task-oriented or performance oriented. The ideal is to have an individual mix of these two, however, is difficult in such. team sports.

One must, after all, follow the team, so that too much customization is difficult. In individual sports it is easier to accommodate those who want to train and compete much or little. Parents are still important support for youth, but now that the youth still need support, the parents are usually gone. Young people can tolerate exercise well even though they grow and develop much in the juvenile period.

Boys go from being a boy to gradually become a man, and girls develop from girl to woman. In particular, this phase where girls, women should be very aware of. It is quite natural that there is a large and sudden weight gain during this phase, and this will affect transition performance level. One should be extremely cautious and careful discussion of the weight, butt, etc., in this very sensitive period of life.

Dieting is and remains a highly risky project that should be avoided during this period. It is important to understand that what is happening is normal, and there is a transition period everyone goes through. Parents should pay close attention, and unfortunately there are too many incompetent trainers (mostly male) out there.

It had been our wish for youth had acquired the knowledge we have communicated in due to the philosophy, planning, coping and training in the subject teaching. This knowledge will form the basis for understanding and insight, and that they incorporate good habits based on critical assessment, rather than random guesses, and myths.

It is still important to be versatile, and young people should be especially careful with heavy loads in the form of, for example. weight training and plenty of exercise. In this active growth period, the body is particularly susceptible to overuse injuries, injuries that can pursue a professional life.
